Dear Teachers,
Here at Scholastic News, we understand that meeting the social and emotional needs of your students is more important now than ever before. Some kids have been learning from home for nearly a year, without their usual outlets for socializing. And, even as schools have reopened, many students still grapple with feelings of fear and anxiety.
In the Scholastic Teacher & Principal School Report released in 2020, an overwhelming 98% of teachers and principals surveyed agreed that, in order for students to reach their highest potential, their social and emotional needs must be met.
We know that many teachers are tasked with implementing SEL lessons without much guidance. We also know that you’re looking for a convenient one-stop shop—for resources that are easy to unpack, implement, and customize. And we’re here to help!
Introducing our new SEL Toolkit Google Slide Decks. We’ve carefully curated some of our most popular content and transformed them into SEL journeys, complete with an article, video, reflection questions, and a choice board all in one convenient package. We believe our new SEL Toolkits will help your students build empathy, resilience, coping mechanisms, a growth mindset, and more.
We’ll continue to post additional slide decks, so be sure to keep checking in. And, as always, please feel free to check in and let us know if you have any suggestions or feedback to share!
