Puke From the Past

This strange-looking rock formation might make you queasy. It’s a pile of fossilized vomit from a time when dinosaurs still roamed Earth! The prehistoric puke was discovered by a fossil hunter on a seaside cliff in Denmark, a country in Europe. Scientists have determined that it dates back to 66 million years ago.

The ancient vomit contains pieces of sea lilies. These tiny marine creatures are related to starfish and sea urchins. Researchers think that a shark or fish threw up after eating some sea lilies, which are difficult to digest. This rare discovery has helped scientists better understand the eating habits of sea creatures of the past.
