Welcome, Beta Babies!

The start of 2025 brought more than just a new year. It also marked the beginning of a new generation. A generation is a group of people born within a specific 15-to-20-year period. Members of the same generation experience big world events, trends, and changes in technology when they’re around the same age. That can shape their views of the world differently from those of other generations. 

Kids born this year through 2039 will make up Generation Beta, or Gen Beta for short. It follows Generation Alpha, which includes anyone born from 2010 to 2024—like fifth- and sixth-graders! (Alpha and beta are the first two letters in the Greek alphabet.) Alphas were the first full generation born into a world with smartphones and social media. 

Denise Villa works for a company that studies the differences between generations. She predicts that advances in technology will have a major effect on Gen Beta.

“They’ll have careers that don’t even exist yet,” Villa says.

Know Your Generations!

Here’s a look at the most recent generations.

  • Baby Boomers: Born from 1946 to 1964 
  • Generation X: Born from 1965 to 1979
  • Generation Y (or Millennials): Born from 1980 to 1994
  • Generation Z: Born from 1995 to 2009
  • Generation Alpha: Born from 2010 to 2024


Note: Some sources use slightly different time periods for certain generations.
