Love Bugs
Chocolates, roses, and . . . cockroaches?! Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Bronx Zoo in New York City is holding its annual Name a Roach program. For a small fee, you can name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after someone you love.
The zoo has an exhibit that includes thousands of these insects, which can grow to be 4 inches long. (The roach shown here is about average size!) These roaches get their name from the hissing sound they make when they release air from breathing holes on their bodies.
The money raised from the Name a Roach program goes to the Wildlife Conservation Society to help protect wildlife.
Insectos amorosos
Bombones, rosas y... ¿cucarachas?
