People across the U.S. enjoy watching leaves turn colors each fall. But drivers in Polk County, Oregon, have something extra special to smile about. Every autumn, a huge smiley face appears in a forest along a highway called Oregon 18.

Workers from the Hampton Lumber company planted the happy trees on a hill in 2011. In fall, the needles on the larch trees turn yellow, creating the smiley face. Douglas fir trees, which remain green all year, form the eyes and mouth.
