Colorful Discovery
This fish really brightens up the reefs where it lives. Scientists identified the colorful creature while studying coral reefs near the Maldives, a country in the Indian Ocean. They named it the rose-veiled fairy wrasse.
Researchers first found this type of fish in the 1990s. But they mistook it for another type of wrasse. Then last year, scientists noticed that the two fish have some key differences—including their color pattern and number of scales—and are separate species.
